The next BREC commission meeting is THURSDAY APRIL 23rd, 2026 AT 5PM (BREC MAIN OFFICE: 6201 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70806
We have an urgent need for citizens to show up and DEMAND CITY PARK GOLF COURSE IS NOT DESTROYED. Please write emails to every BREC commissioner demanding they keep all of City Park Golf Course fully intact.
The biased BREC/SASAKI survey against golf has reopened until April 17, 2026. As of Feb 26th only 1,100 surveys have been completed, you still have time to make a differnce and save the golf course. Take the survey today, this will document your support to the commission. It has a huge impact on the decision process. Emails are a big influencer also.
Please read our archive on this website about the biased BREC survey being conducted by Sasaki. PLEASE SUPPORT GOLF. DEMAND BREC KEEP GOLF AS IS. NO REDUCTIONS. ASK FOR OTHER RECREATION TO BE DEVELOPED ONLY ON UNUSED LAND OUTSIDE OF GOLF SCOPE. Email: commissioners@brec.org and tell them what you think.
STEP 1. Read about the problem. BREC may vote at their next meeting THURS APRIL 23rd, 2026 5PM to close CITY PARK GOLF COURSE FOREVER.
STEP 2. There is a BREC public survey about CITY PARK which is has reopened until April 17th, 2026. You can find a link on our website, we absolutely need you to complete the survey and support golf. Another vital priority is that we need citzens to email the BREC Commission via Email: commissioners@brec.org, with a keen eye to favor golf and tell BREC to "Keep 100% GOLF footprint at CITY PARK. DO NOT CLOSE or reduce golf course size".
STEP 3. The BREC survey was designed with a BIAS against golf. Please find our menu (top left corner, green button). Go to the menu item labled "Our Guidance on the biased BREC survey". You can find a link to the BREC survey on our survey guidance tab of this website.
STEP 3B. The BREC survey is open until April 17th, 2026. You have four tasks to save the course: (A) Take the BREC Survey; (B) Email BREC: Email: commissioners@brec.org; (C) Show up at monthly BREC Commision Meetings, next date Thursday April 23rd, 2026 5PM; (D) Sign up with us to receive updates and alerts from www.ProtectCityParkGolfCourseBR.org ; We need as many citizens to SUPPORT CITY PARK GOLF COURSE BATON ROUGE as possible. BREC is looking for an excuse to CLOSE THE GOLF COURSE FOREVER. They have been trying for 23 years. This threat is serious and real.
STEP 4. If you would kindly let us update you by TEXT ALERT OR EMAIL, please find our signup on our menu. We will respect your privacy. You may unsubscribe at anytime. We wish to mobilize the public and seek an ability to keep you informed on this issue.
STEP 5. Look deeper into all the links in the menu (Green Button, top left). The backstory is very interesting. Over the top, yes we admit, but PERMANENT CLOSURE OF THE GOLF COURSE IS IMMINENT. Now that the BREC survey is closed the best plan of action is to get involved with our group and sign-up so we can contact you to let you know how to best help Protect City Park Golf Course BR .org . Be kind and monitor our website. We will have updates. We need your support to amplify our message on social media, email to people you know. Please voice your support everywhere in Baton Rouge to STOP BREC FROM CLOSING CITY PARK GOLF COURSE.
STEP 6. Remember. BREC is working hard to find excuses to massively cut the golf course size 50% to 70% or worse PERMANENTLY CLOSE CITY PARK GOLF COURSE completely.
STEP 7. Familiarize yourself with the long history of the Historic 100 year old CITY PARK GOLF COURSE at another civic group, FRIENDS OF CITY PARK BATON ROUGE. They do great work too.
STEP 8. BREC has a public meeting on this topic Thursday APRIL 23rd, 2026 at 5PM (BREC MAIN OFFICE 6201 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70806). We urge you to attend the meeting. Your physical presence will make a huge difference to STOP BREC FROM CLOSING CITY PARK GOLF COURSE.
STEP 9. We have social media meme's, slides, and photos below. You can copy paste, email or text your friends. Please post these items on any social media you have access to. Spread the word and save the golf course. Text important people with support for the course. Encourage them to take action by pointing them to our website.
STEP 10. We SUPPORT CITY PARK GOLF COURSE. We hope you will too. Thank you. We also support all the other activities at city park, but we need your decisive action to SAVE CITY PARK GOLF COURSE from BREC's plans to destroy it on its 100th Anniversary.
